Guess where I spent my evening! Yep at about 8:45 PM last night Zoe decided to try to cut her own apple slices using out apple corer/slicer. Well she made a mistake and tried to use it upside down and ended up with a pretty major cut on the palm of her hand right at the base of her pointer finger. I couldn’t get the bleeding under control, so the on-call doctor with our medical group suggested that I take her in to the ER. I was so sure that they were going to tell me I was over-reacting, but the doctor said that given her age and activity level they wanted to glue and splint it so she didn’t move it around and keep breaking it open. So now my baby girl has here hand all wrapped up for a couple of days, til her cut heals.
No more days like this please! I really hate spending the evening in the ER. It’s festival time in our neck of the woods so they were so very busy! But even on non-busy nights I hate the ER.
But I’m thinking I got off easy. I was informed earlier this morning that a dear friend of mine’s hubby was in a MAJOR car accident on his way to church yesterday. Apparently he was clipped by an oversized tractor coming around a curve! He is the sole support for this growing family with 4 kiddos under the age of 7 and number 5 due in the next couple of months. She was already at church with the kids and became worried – so she left the kids in their respective classes with a word to a friend to take them home with her if she didn’t come back right away – well her friend’s husband went with my friend and moments later they came upon the accident as her husband was being cut out by emergency personal and awaiting transport to a major hospital in their area. He has compound fractures in two places in his left leg, a broken left arm and a collapsed left lung. There are also minor cuts and bruising but NO internal injuires.
So compared to that – well Zoe’s minor boo-boo is pretty piddly. Say a prayer if you would for Donna & Brian and their children.
Any ER stories to share? I have several others – BUT I’ll just stop now as to not bore you to tears with all our visits!
Blessings,
Garsy
